Cupping therapy is an ancient Chinese healing technique and massage method.
Suction or partial vacuum is created in cups placed on the skin, which then draw up underlying tissues and manipulates muscle.
When the cup is rolled up the skin, or left in place for 5 to 15 minutes, blood stasis is formed and healing takes place. Cupping therapy causes tissues to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system and clear blockages. The treatment leaves you with a feeling of deep relaxation.
Even a single treatment shows impressive and remarkable results. Notice an increase in energy as well as benefits to your wellbeing. Detoxification is promoted and increased with cupping therapy, and it’s an excellent complimentary therapy to the ionic detox treatments.
Cupping has also been found to affect the body up to four inches into the tissues, causing tissues to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system, clear colon blockages, help activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries, activate the skin, clear stretch marks and improve varicose veins.
Some people experience circular red marks after their treatment, due to the blood stasis. They are not painful and will fade and disappear in a few days.
Cupping therapy has been further developed as a means to open the ‘Meridians’ of the body. Meridians are the conduits in the body through which energy flows to every part of the body and through every organ and tissue.
There are five meridians on the back that, when opened, allow invigorating energy to travel the whole length of the body. It has been found that cupping is probably the best way of opening those meridians.
Cupping can also be used with massage. Before applying the cups, your massage therapist will administer plenty of oil on the areas to be cupped, to facilitate smooth movement.
Placement of the cups on the area will allow the practitioner to slide the cups over the skin. The movement is smooth and many areas of the body may be worked on including:
